Most of our services start with a dental exam. Whether it’s for an emergency dental service or part of routine check up, we gently examine your teeth and entire mouth using a metal probe and angled mirror.
If you’re visiting us for a routine dental visit, your exam will take place alongside your cleaning.

With our Treatment Planning Tool, you can select your exact areas of concern and get personalized treatment recommendations.
During your dental exam, we will assess your overall oral health, including your tongue, gums, and teeth. We will also take regular X-rays if you’re due for new imaging.
If needed, we may recommend additional services, such as teeth cleanings, to best protect your teeth from decay or disease. We also offer fluoride treatments to further protect your teeth if needed.
Dental exams play a vital role in protecting your overall health and quality of life. Routine exams are a vital part of preventive care to stop oral issues before they start; and they can also help us develop a treatment plan to eliminate bad breath or light cosmetic issues with your teeth. The earlier we can detect a problem, the easier it will be to treat. It also helps us create documentation of your oral health over time should any issues arise in the future.
It’s not uncommon for us to discover cavities or similar issues during your dental exam. In Wellesley, we can treat many of these problems with fillings or crowns, though we may need to schedule a follow-up appointment. Some issues may be beyond our scope, in which case we can refer you to a specialist to provide treatment.
